Foley Cellulose and its parent company Koch Industries have a long history of supporting our community, local students and career and workforce initiatives at North Florida College.

On June 3, Georgia-Pacific Foley Cellulose Public Affairs Manager Scott Mixon presented a $4,000 check to the NFC Foundation on behalf of Koch Industries. The generous donation will directly benefit NFC’s commercial truck driving program.

“On behalf of North Florida College and our students, thank you for your contribution of $4,000 for the CDL program,” said Judy Lundell, Director of Resource Development at NFC. “Your support will change lives as student scholarships further student degree completions and workforce training certifications.”

The CDL program’s connection to industry partners and the region’s logging industry makes it unique among area training options. With a new commercial truck driving class starting this month, NFC is helping train essential workers for in-demand jobs. In just 12 weeks, graduates are prepared to earn a CDL-Class A certification and quickly enter the workforce with local and state employers.

The generosity of donors like Koch Industries directly helps Taylor County students further their education. Over the last year the NFC Foundation has awarded scholarships to 71 Taylor County Students with a total of more than $41,730 to cover tuition, books and fees.

“We deeply appreciate Foley Cellulose and Scott Mixon’s continued support of NFC,” said Lundell. “In addition to scholarship and program support, they have a genuine interest in helping our students and community. They are an outstanding industry partner for the College and have been essential to helping our career and workforce education programs grow over the years.”

The Foley Cellulose mill is a major producer of specialty fibers found in products that people around the world use in everyday life, including clothing, tires, shampoo, diapers, filters and towels. Locally, they actively seek to improve the quality of life in our community by focusing on education, entrepreneurship, environment and enrichment as top priorities.
