Placement Testing for Degree and College Credit Programs

Testing is by appointment only and space is limited due to distancing requirements. Students are encouraged to wear a face cover/mask but will be asked to temporarily show their face when checked in. Students should call the Testing Center at 850-973-9451 to schedule an appointment and pay testing fees by phone at 850-973-1610. Leave message for the cashier if you get their voicemail. Student who wish to test at the Live Oak Location should call 386-364-5093.

Students entering degree programs, taking degree-credit courses, or any level of English, math, or reading courses may be required to take a placement test before registering. ACT, SAT, CPT, and PERT are accepted. Exemptions to the placement test requirement can be found in Florida Statute 1008.30.

1008.30 Common placement testing for public postsecondary education(4)(a) A student who entered 9th grade in a Florida public school in the 2003-2004 school year, or any year thereafter, and earned a Florida standard high school diploma or a student who is serving as an active duty member of any branch of the United States Armed Services shall not be required to take the common placement test and shall not be required to enroll in developmental education instruction in a Florida College System institution. However, a student who is not required to take the common placement test and is not required to enroll in developmental education under this paragraph may opt to be assessed and to enroll in developmental education instruction, and the college shall provide such assessment and instruction upon the student’s request.

Testing for Career & Workforce Certificate Programs

  • Students seeking Career & Workforce Certificates (Practical Nursing, Advanced Manufacturing, Early Childhood Professional Certificate) take Form A of the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education). Exemptions from TABE exit requirement based on successful completion of college coursework or demonstrated readiness for public postsecondary education will be evaluated by the program advisor or the Office of Enrollment Services.
  • Students seeking admissions to Public Safety programs (Corrections and Law Enforcement) must take the CJBAT (Florida Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test).
