NFCC is seeking an enthusiastic nurse educator.  Must have a current Florida unrestricted Registered Nursing license (and eligible for license in Georgia).

Coordinator of STEM SEAL's NSF Project

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

Coordinates/Manages the STEM SEALs NSF Project under the direction of the grant Project Investigator (PI).

The North Florida Community College STEM SEALs: STEM Sea, Air, and Land Remotely Operated Vehicle Design Challenges for Rural, Middle School Youth (STEM SEALs) purpose is to produce high quality, relevant STEM design challenge modules and competition design challenges by building strong collaboration among teachers, school staff members, college faculty, college students, researchers, and regional STEM professionals. The overarching goals of the project include: (a) Promote a greater awareness of STEM Pathways; (b) Increase readiness for STEM post-secondary study; and, (c) Generate student identity as STEM-able, STEM- skilled, and STEM-belonging.

The STEM SEALs NSF Project Coordinator takes an active leadership role in successfully implementing the College’s STEM SEALs NSF Project (2019-2021) as a community outreach initiative. Answering directly to the PI, the Coordinator provides day-to-day project management. As a fulltime employee of the college, this position's responsibilities will cover college/school district communication and collaboration, project calendar coordination, strategy planning, events and middle school student summer institute facilitation, community interest surveys and focus groups, conducting work group facilitation and monitoring, conducting teacher and student recruitment, promoting the project to multiple community groups and school system staff, interfacing with project third-party evaluator and research team, and purchasing and materials inventory.

This is a new position and is funded by a three-year grant (potentially four years), the Coordinator needs to be ready to start implementing on day one. This includes having prior knowledge of STEM K-12 education, excellent personal skills, being highly organized, able to generate and maintain project timelines and monitor implementation progress, be willing to reach out to business partners, youth organizations, regional county school systems, charter schools, home schoolers, NFCC instructors, teachers, and other key stakeholders and community members. A familiarity with the NFCC service area is a plus. This position will report directly to the STEM SEALs NSF Project Investigator (PI).

Partial Duties include:

  1. Plan and implement creative, targeted project promotion and information dissemination to the region.
  2. Plan and implement school district, school, teacher, and student recruitment initiatives addressing specific recruitment objectives for the project.
  3. Develop a recruitment strategy for minority students and underrepresented STEM populations.
  4. Initiate and manage implementation of innovative and effective prospect and applicant follow-up campaigns.
  1. Oversee a calendar of project activities (on-and off-campus).
  2. Establish and maintain rapport with school principals, school district superintendents, and community organizations to maintain coordination of the project in our six-county service district.
  3. Assist in purchase order generation and teacher participant stipend payment process as well as student school bus transportation scheduling and payments.
  4. Leverage technology to maintain effective reporting practices s and to effectively manage project contacts, participation, and applications.
  5. Monitor the project budget, purchase orders, and stipend payment process.
  6. Prepare and present teacher, student, and parent workshops and informational sessions as necessary.
  7. Requires working knowledge of computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office and Excel.

Staff Assistant Enrollment Services - Live Oak Location

Job Description

SUMMARY

The Staff Assistant provides assistance to the Director of the Live Oak Location to ensure provision of services to students. The assistant will be responsible for accurate correspondence, record keeping, participant database maintenance, customer services, linking students to resources, scheduling, and other administrative duties as assigned. Must provide excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Below are listed the primary tasks identified for this position.  The duties articulated though not exhaustive, indicate the majority of the functions assigned to this position.  Other duties may be assigned based on institutional need.

  1. Greet and assist visitors, answer and direct telephone calls regarding areas of admissions, advising, and testing to assist students, staff, and faculty.

  4. Provide office and administrative support including admissions, testing, advising, financial aid, recruiting, and student support.
  5. Assist students with pre-advising activities and direct office traffic.

This is a full time NFCC faculty position instructing high school and adult students in the Welding Technology certificate program. Faculty member will be teaching in the welding classroom lab area located at the Madison County High School.

Partial Duties include:

  • Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management.
  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives for the Welding Technologies certificate program following the Florida Frameworks published by the Florida Department of Education.

Academic Success Tutor Lab Manager/Academic Specialist

SUMMARY

The Academic Success Tutor Lab Manager/Academic Specialist will maintain and supervise the Academic Success Tutor Lab and work directly with the Academic Success Center Coordinator to coordinate face-to-face and online peer tutoring services including one-on-one and small group tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI), study groups, and workshops for college preparatory courses and college level courses.

Partial Duties include:

  1. Recruit, hire, train, and provide scheduling and timekeeping for peer tutors.
  2. Supervise and evaluate peer tutors throughout each academic term.
  3. Survey Academic Success Tutor Lab tutoring participants.
  4. Coordinate peer tutoring services in-person and online in subjects requested by NFCC students.
  5. Offer supplemental instruction services for selected courses as needed.
  6. Offer academic coaching services for selected students as needed.
  7. Assist in Managing referrals for peer tutoring services.
  8. Assist with orientations at the beginning of spring and fall academic terms to promote student awareness of the Academic Success Center services and Smart-thinking online tutoring services.
  9. Record and track student attendance in the Academic Success Tutor Lab per academic term.
  10. Offer workshops covering a variety of topics as scheduled through the ASC Coordinator as needed.
  11. Organize activities to celebrate National Tutoring Week.

Learning Specialist - STEM/Allied Health

Part-Time

Job Description

The Learning Specialist will provide face-to-face and virtual academic assistance for students. This position will support the needs of students across STEM and Allied Health content areas. The Learning Specialist must develop and maintain a working rapport with the students, work with them individually and/or in small groups, exercise good judgment, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The learning specialist will exercise strong organizational skills, exhibit an eagerness to learn and be of service, and promote positive student, faculty, and staff relations. A positive attitude and a team player is a must!

Provide professional tutoring to students (content area tutoring, TABE/PERT reviews, study skills, etc.) through the Academic Success Center (ASC)

Illustrate knowledge of study skills and strategies

Assist Tutor Lab Manager by supervising peer tutors in the absences of the manager

Assist ASC Coordinator in the following:

  • Academic Coaching with emphasis given to students under probation status, and Allied Health/Career & Technical Programs
  • Administration of diagnostic assessments
  • Development, implementation, and facilitation of workshops and/or study sessions face-to-face and virtual
  • Assist in the development of online resources specific to subject specialty
  • Provide Supplemental and Course Instruction when needed
  • Perform various administrative tasks associated with marketing and promotion of ASC services

Commercial Truck Driving Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
  • Instructors will work no more than 25 hours per week.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level II background check.

SUMMARY

Through strong, local support from the truck driving and timber industry, North Florida Community College offers a certified program in the field of commercial truck driving. This program is designed to prepare new drivers for their commercial driver’s license ("CDL") as well continuing education refreshers for existing drivers.  A portion of the training will focus on the specific skills needed within the timber industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess an active Florida Class A CDL (commercial driver’s license) and a current Department of Transportation physical.
  • Over the road experience, clean driving record. Preferred experience in the logging industry. 

Duties include:  

  • Teach classroom portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including permits, logbooks and trip planning.
  • Teach hands on portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including backing, shifting, and behind the wheel.
  • Maintain student files.
  • Maintain Truck Driver Training Program equipment.
  • Monitor inventory of training supplies.
  • Evaluate and grade students throughout the program.
  • Maintain relationships with employers in the trucking industry and assist with the recruitment/placement of students.

North Florida Community College is looking for quality Adjunct Instructors to teach day and/or night Regular and Dual Enrollment College Classes. The following disciplines are needed:

Requirements: 

A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.


  • Chemistry Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the chemistry discipline.

  • Biology Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the biology discipline. Evening hours preferred.
  • Math Adjunct Instructor: A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in Math. (Fall Semester)

  • EMS Adjunct Instructor: Must be a paramedic with at least 4 year’s experience and have successfully completed an associate's degree or higher. Must be willing to attend a 40 hour instructional methodology course.

  • Interpreter: For Deaf students - Must be certified. Degrees not required.
