Director of Advanced Manufacturing and

Engineering Technology

JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY

This is a full-time (37.5 hours a week)/ 12 month position whose responsibility includes the continuous development of curriculum content and training materials for the Engineering Technology Associate of Science degree program. The Director will be responsible for industry partnership engagement and assisting in the advancement of the manufacturing career cluster at North Florida Community College. Classroom instruction shall be an integral part of this position. The Engineering Technology Director will remain flexible to the training needs of industry and design and refine curriculum to meet area needs. Duties include the instruction and retention of students enrolled in the program as well as placement activities to assist students with employment upon completion. This position will direct and implement the day-to-day Engineering Technology processes (to include marketing, recruitment, advising and monitoring of students); and evaluation and collection of data related to the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree in Engineering required-preferably in mechanical, electrical, or systems fields. Industry work experience also preferred.

This position also requires that the person is able to exercise good judgment and work independently in a manner that reflects a high standard of professional ethics.

Partial List of Responsibilities                      

  • Develop curriculum content for Engineering Technology program, ensuring alignment with the Florida curriculum frameworks and needs of regional industry.
  • Directs the selection of instructional materials, software, and hardware.
  •  Preview curriculum multimedia and determine suitability for viewing by students and correlation to curriculum.
  •  Preview and test software for Engineering Technology courses.
  •  Develop, promote, and support a curriculum that helps each student develop a sense of self-worth and critical thinking skills needed in today’s manufacturing environment.
  •  Direct curriculum development activities with all Engineering Technology stakeholders.
  •  Employ effective interpersonal skills.
  •  Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  •  Investigate and employ the use of 3rd party industry credentials within the Engineering Technology curriculum
  •  Direct marketing and recruiting materials to a variety of audiences in order to attract and retain students in the Engineering Technology program.
  •  Create and form an Advisory Committee dedicated to the enhancement of the advanced manufacturing programs at North Florida Community College.

Commercial Truck Driving Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Anticipated Vacancy

  • This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
  • Instructors will work no more than 25 hours per week.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level II background check.

SUMMARY

Through strong, local support from the truck driving and timber industry, North Florida Community College plans to begin offering a certified program in the field of commercial truck driving. This program is designed to prepare new drivers for their commercial driver’s license ("CDL") as well continuing education refreshers for existing drivers.  A portion of the training will focus on the specific skills needed within the timber industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess an active Florida Class A CDL (commercial driver’s license) and a current Department of Transportation physical.
  • Over the road experience, clean driving record. Preferred experience in the logging industry. 

Duties include:  

  • Teach classroom portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including permits, logbooks and trip planning.
  • Teach hands on portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including backing, shifting, and behind the wheel.
  • Maintain student files.
  • Maintain Truck Driver Training Program equipment.
  • Monitor inventory of training supplies.
  • Evaluate and grade students throughout the program.
  • Maintain relationships with employers in the trucking industry and assist with the recruitment/placement of students.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Attend clinical rotations with students
  • Maintain and evaluate clinical performance
  • Keep student informed of clinical performance
  • Supervise care provided by nursing students in contracted long-term care, acute care,  and community facilities
  • Assure clinical course objective are met
  • Prepare clinical assignments
  • Prepare clinical lab and simulation assignments

Looking for some part time income?

North Florida Community College is looking for quality Adjunct Instructors to teach day and/or night Regular and Dual Enrollment College Classes. The following disciplines are needed:

Requirements: 

  • A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.

  • Sociology Instructor: A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the Sociology or SYG prefix. (Fall Semester)

  • EMS Adjunct Instructor: Must be a paramedic with at least 4 year’s experience and have successfully completed an associate's degree or higher. Must be willing to attend a 40 hour instructional methodology course.

  • Interpreter: For Deaf students - Must be certified. Degrees not required.

There is a need for these classes to be taught throughout our six (6) county area which includes: Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor. Every consideration will be made to place you in your county of choice
