Systems Support Specialist

Job Description

SUMMARY

Assists the Coordinator of Systems Support in planning, design, installation, implementation, upkeep, operation and maintenance of all facets of computer networking including hardware, software and infrastructure.

Partial Duties include:

  1. Installs and maintains networking hardware/software for connectivity to the main NFC network (Apples, PC’s, printers, APs. etc...)
  2. Maintain other technologies hardware/software for instructional and administrative use (Smartboard, projectors, Electron, etc...)
  3. Maintains network security.  Adds, removes, and changes authorities for network users.
  4. Assists in coordinating equipment, software upgrades, and acquisitions.
  5. Creates detail technical documentation as required.
  6. Conducts and maintains a complete inventory of all computers, peripherals and software.
  7. Trains users in the use of software and hardware.
  8. Installs, maintains and troubleshoots IP based video conferencing equipment.
  9. Assists instructional technology personnel in supporting and maintaining classroom technology to include audiovisual, document projection, and computer integration.
  10. Provide hardware and software support at remote campus locations.
  11. Install and configure wireless access points for students and intra-office connectivity.

A valid Comp TIA A+ certification “preferred”.

Coordinator of Employee Services 

Job Description

  • Department: Employee Services

SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Employee Services compiles and maintains personnel records, benefits, correspondence, reports and makes Banner inputs for payroll.  The Coordinator of Employee Services also greets employees, answers phones, and performs other related Employee Services functions.

Partial Duties include:

  1. Must have personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives, and mission of North Florida College.
  2. Records employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, Payroll (input), performance reviews or evaluations, and date and reason of termination.
  3. Answer all incoming calls in a professional manner, screen telephone calls, and arrange conference calls.  Contact references of perspective employees by phone, e-mail, or by correspondence.
  4. Maintains and updates the Personnel computer files in Banner and prepares reports for the Director.
  5. Processes employment applications/resumes and assists in other employment activities.
  6. Setup, maintain, and update employee payroll files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll processing purposes.
  7. Explains benefits available to staff and new employees.
  8. Assist all employees in preparing appropriate forms in order to sign up for all entitled benefits
  9. Process, submit, and track all required benefit forms and documents.
  10. Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
  11. Understands wage and hour law (i.e.. exempt and nonexempt employees, overtime rules, etc.).
  12. Compiles data from personnel records and data bases; preparing reports as needed.
  13. Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensures that policies, procedures, and reporting systems are in compliance with the requirements/regulations.
  14. Initiates correspondence with insurance vendors and employees. 
  15. Maintains COBRA and FML letters and Logs.
  16. Assist the Director in the training and development function of the College.
  17. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing, and selection of employees to fill vacant positions.
  18. Responsible for incoming and outgoing mail, including certified letters.
  19. Plans and assists in conducting new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward College goals and objectives.
  20. Keeps records of benefits plans participation such as insurance and pension plan, cafeteria 125 plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and employee statistics for government or College reporting.
  21. Plan and organize annual open enrollment.
  22. Deals directly with employee and/or vendor if necessary, in order to correct Personnel problems such as Insurance, Letters of Employment, etc.
  23. Makes adjustments to health, dental and life insurance bills as needed.
  24. Compiles and maintains records for use in employee benefits administration.
  25. Prepares and files Workers Compensation reports of accidents and injuries at the College.
  26. Act as Notary as needed.

Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years related experience and/or training, or combination of education and experience is required.  Extensive experience using Microsoft Office word processing and electronic spreadsheet software required. Instructional Coordinator of Criminal Justice Programs

Job Description

  • Department: Public Safety

SUMMARY

Act in the absence of the Public Safety Director to assure quality control of the vocational law enforcement, correctional, and continuing education criminal justice training programs with chief duties being the daily scheduling of instructors, courses and facilities and maintenance of records.  This position also holds the responsibility for verifying instructor records to director.

Partial Duties include:

  1. Management of all courses to assure that criminal justice training, both recruit and advanced education course programs, meet the goals and objectives of North Florida College and the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (CJSTC).
  2. Be prepared to teach classes as needed in the absence of scheduled instructors, and/or during course testing.
  3. Act as liaison for Director when needed with agencies, students and administration.
  4. Ensure safety of students and training school instructors.
  5. Report deficiencies in facilities, equipment and supplies to the Director.
  6. Prepare requisitions for supplies as needed.

CJSTC.

  1. Assist in the development, administration and security of examinations
  2. Report all expenditures to be charged to CJSTC Trust Fund to comply with Florida Statutes, CJSTC Rules and Policies and Procedures.
  3. Prepare all documentation required for NFCC and CJSTC courses, including student certificates for advanced/specialized course.
  4. Report all incidences of violations of academy rules to director to assure compliance with CJSTC rules and Florida Statutes.
  5. Conduct student orientations and provide a set of applicable rules to recruit students. Make recommendations to the Director on disciplinary matters as prescribed by the Recruit Manual.

Job Description

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited  College or University preferred, or graduate of the FBI National Academy, or Southern Police Institute, or five (5)  years related experience and/or training in the criminal justice field. Candidate must hold a current Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission General Instructor Certification, and/or meet FAC 11B-20.001 instructor requirements High Liability Certifications preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a Florida law enforcement or corrections certification from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Criminal Justice Standards Training Commission (FDLE/CJSTC), or be able to attain certification within 180 days of employment as a condition of employment.

Should be eligible in all respects to become an active Law Enforcement Reserve Officer.  If a Local Reserve Law Enforcement position is available, participation is required.

Must have a valid driver’s License.

NFC Faculty Positions

Full-time Nursing Faculty Position (11 Month)

NFC is seeking an enthusiastic nurse educator. Must have a current Florida unrestricted Registered Nursing license (and eligible for compact license for practice in Georgia).

Qualifications:

  • BSN required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience in Medical Surgical Nursing preferred.
  • Must have at least two (2) years paid working experience as an RN.
  • This is a full-time (11 month) Faculty position.

Commercial Truck Driving Instructor - Part Time

This is a part-time position without benefits. Instructors will work no more than 25 hours per week. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Level II background check. 

SUMMARY  

Through strong, local support from the truck driving and timber industry, North Florida College offers a certified program in the field of commercial truck driving. This program is designed to prepare new drivers for their commercial driver’s license ("CDL") as well continuing education refreshers for existing drivers.  A portion of the training focuses on the specific skills needed within the timber industry. 

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Possess an active Florida Class A CDL (commercial driver’s license) and a current Department of Transportation physical. 
  • Over the road experience, clean driving record. Preferred experience in the logging industry.  

 Duties include:    

  • Teach classroom portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including permits, logbooks and trip planning. 
  • Teach hands on portion of the Truck Driver Training Program, including backing, shifting, and behind the wheel. 
  • Maintain student files. 
  • Maintain Truck Driver Training Program equipment. 
  • Monitor inventory of training supplies. 
  • Evaluate and grade students throughout the program. 
  • Maintain relationships with employers in the trucking industry and assist with the recruitment/placement of students.

EMS Adjunct Instructor - Part Time

The primary responsibility of the EMS adjunct instructor is to assist the student in the classroom, laboratory, and during clinical experiences as needed. This position is on a part-time as needed basis.

Qualifications:

Required: Adjunct instructors must have completed the Florida Level A coursework as identified in the National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors, August, 2002 ed. Must have a current Florida paramedic license with three-years of field provider experience with an ALS service.

Adjunct instructors must possess a minimum of an associate degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the US Dept. of Education.

Clinical Adjunct Instructors Needed - Nursing

North Florida College is looking for quality Adjunct Instructors to teach day and/or night Regular and Dual Enrollment College Classes. The following disciplines are needed:

Requirements: 

A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the discipline.


  • Chemistry Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the chemistry discipline.

  • Biology Instructor: A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the biology discipline. Evening hours preferred.

  • English Adjunct: English Instructor. A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the English discipline.

  • Foreign Language: Spanish Adjunct Instructor. A Master’s degree (or higher) in the discipline or a Master’s degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in the Spanish Language discipline.
  • Math Adjunct Instructor: A Master's degree (or higher) in the discipline being taught or a Master's degree in any subject with 18 graduate hours in Math. (Fall Semester)

  • EMS Adjunct Instructor: Must be a paramedic with at least 4 year’s experience and have successfully completed an associate's degree or higher. Must be willing to attend a 40 hour instructional methodology course.

  • Interpreter: For Deaf students - Must be certified. Degrees not required.
