Student Rights and Responsibilities
Introduction
North Florida Community College is determined that the campus be a place of learning, safety, shared responsbility and harmony. The faculty, staff and students have an obligation to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and high regard for the life and property of the College.

It is expected that all members of the educational community will share respect for the law and adhere to the highest ethical and moral standards of conduct. In the event that these high standards are not self-enforced, the College will take action to protect its interests. Student Conduct on campus and at off-campus sponsored activities and facilities is expected to be supportive of these interests.
Student Rights
  • Right to a quality education.

  • Right to a fair and impartial hearing.
  • Right to participate in Student Government.
  • Right to be a member in authorized student organizations.
  • Right of personal respect and freedom from humiliation and control
  • Right to make the best use of your time and talents and to work toward the goal which brought you to College
  • Right to ask about and recommend improvements in policies that affect the welfare of students
  • Student Responsibilities
    - Expected to assume responsibility for knowing the rules, regulations, and policies of the College.
    - Expected to meet the course and graduation requirements of his/her program of student.
    - Expected to keep college records current with up-to-date addresses and other information.
    - Expected to meet with an academic advisor at least once each term.
    - Expected to comply with College rules and policies.
    • Expected to behave ina manner which demonstrates respect for others and self.
    Student Conduct
    To Student Resources and Code of Conduct
    Students are expected to display, at all times, qualities of courtesy and integrity that characterize the behavior of ladies and gentlemen. The Student Code of Conduct is included in the Student Handbook distributed to students and available in the Student Services office.

    When students are on campus or at College-sponsored functions on or off campus, they are expected to identify themselves to College staff when requested to do so. Students residing in living quarters away from their own homes will be expected to abide by all rules and regulations of the College. When students are guilty of conduct, which reflects unfavorably upon themselves or the College, the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs will follow procedures outlined in the Student Code of Conduct.

    Any student enrolled at North Florida Community College found guilty of violation of national, state, or local laws or ordinances may be requested to withdraw from the College. In all deliberations regarding conduct, the decision of the President is final.

    Student Grievance Procedure
    In the event a student believes he/she has the basis for a grievance, the student shall first have a conference
    with the person(s) associated with the grievance. If the matter is resolved at this stage, the grievance shall be dropped.

    If no satisfactory settlement is reached, the student should present a written statement to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs who will inform the student of the proper grievance appeal procedure. The grievance process is defined in the Student Code of
    Conduct available in the Office of Enrollment Services.
