Bookstore How do I know what book I need for class? The departments and instructors tell the bookstore what books are needed for the classes they teach. Bring your class schedule to the Bookstore and we will assist you in the process of selecting and purchasing your books for the term.
Do you have used books? Yes, there are used books available for many of the classes. Some courses may use a textbook that has gone to a new edition; therefore, there will not be a used book for those courses.
Will I be able to sell this book at the end of the term? Yes. Books reselected by the departments to be the textbook for the next term are eligible to resell to the bookstore if they are in good, clean condition. The Bookstore “buy back” is at the end of each semester during finals. You must have a Bookstore receipt and photo ID to resell books. The buy back list is posted on the Bookstore webpage.
Can I return this book if I don't need it? Yes. You may return it with your receipt anytime during the posted drop/add period. Some books are sold in sealed plastic or shrink wrapped packaging. If packaging is opened, books cannot be returned. Unwrapped books must be returned unused.
When is the last day I can use my financial aid to purchase books? The date is determined by the Financial Aid office. It is usually two weeks from the first day of class.

Library What services are available in the Library? The Marshall W. Hamilton Library at North Florida Community College offers a wealth of resources necessary for support of student learning. The Library is home to the Jenyethel Merritt Learning Resources Center and the Dr. James Gardner Audio -Visual Annex. Online resources consist of a catalog, full-text periodical databases, and electronic books, chat and email reference, and electronic renewal of library materials.
Library Resources Thirty-six computers with Microsoft Office Suite and Internet access. Over 31,000 books, 125 periodical subscriptions, and 2,000 videocassettes. Student Disability Services Does Student Disability Services provide financial aid for students with disabilities? NFCC’s Student Disability Services office does not provide financial assistance to students. Depending on the nature of the disability, students may be eligible for services and financial assistance through the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. For more information, students may contact the Florida Division of Vocational Rehabilitation directly or call NFCC’s Student Disability Services at 850.973.9484 for a referral.
Are there special classes/special teachers for students with disabilities? NFCC does not offer special classes for students with disabilities. Students with disabilities attend classes with all other students enrolled at the college and are held to the same standards as other students.
Does Student Disability Services provide personal care assistance, wheelchairs, computers, transportation, or similar services? No. Items of this nature are considered personal equipment or personal care services and are not considered public accommodations by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
How do I get help from Student Disability Services and is it confidential? Students may call (850.973.9484) to schedule an appointment with the Coordinator for Disability Services to discuss the nature of their disability and learn what services and/or accommodations they may be eligible to receive. Medical, psychological or educational documentation to determine eligibility is accepted by the college. All documentation is confidential and cannot be shared with college faculty or staff without the written consent of the student. Information received or services provided by the SDS Office DO NOT appear on any student's official college record. Individuals without documentation of a disability may also schedule appointments to discuss options available to them. |
Health Services Does NFCC have a health clinic? No. Medical emergencies are referred to the Madison County Emergency Rescue. Florida Statute 1006.69 requires provision of detailed information concerning the risks associated with meningococcal meningitis and hepatitis B and the availability, effectiveness, and contraindications of any required or recommended vaccine. This information is sent to all students applying for admission to NFCC.

Tutoring Services – Learning Resource Center Does NFCC offer tutoring services on campus? Yes. The Learning Resource Center is available on campus to ensure that tutoring needs are met. The LRC is equipped with computers and educational software for academic reinforcement and enrichment. Our mission is to support and supplement learning activities through the use of peer tutoring. The center consists of the Math Lab and the Reading/Writing Lab. The center is located on the ground floor of the Math/Science building (Building #6) with handicapped access.
Tutoring services are available for all NFCC students; however, there are eligibility requirements for tutoring services in Student Support Services and Disabled Student Services. Students requesting services should contact those offices directly. Services Provided

Student Email Accounts Do I need a campus email address or can I use my personal email address for campus communications? Students will be provided with an email address through Desire2Learn (D2L), NFCC’s learning management system. All official campus communications will be sent to the student’s NFCC email address, and students will be held responsible for regularly checking their email for any updates and information. D2L will also be your access to online courses. This will be the only email address used by NFCC faculty and staff to communicate with students.

Student ID Where do I get my student ID card? Beginning Fall 2007, students will be REQUIRED to obtain and WEAR an ID card to be on campus. ID cards are made in the Student Center throughout the year. An ID card is required to check out books from the Library, in the Bookstore to resell books, and to obtain a parking decal.

Parking Do I need a parking decal to park on campus? Students must display a valid parking decal in order to park on campus. Applications for parking decals are available in the Student Activities Office located inside the Student Center. A parking map and rules will be provided with your parking decal.

Foodservice Are dining facilities available on campus? A food service facility in the Student Center serves meals and snacks throughout the day. Breakfast and lunch are available at modest cost. Food Service facilities are closed during school holidays and weekends. A number of restaurants are conveniently located in Madison.

Clubs/Organizations Email Student Activities Who do I contact if I am interested in participating in a club or organization? NFCC offers a variety of student services and organizations that provide opportunities for you to meet fellow students, develop leadership skills, and increase team-building abilities you will use for years to come. Artist Series What is the NFCC Artist Series? The NFCC Artist Series is one of the best entertainment deals in North Florida, offering exceptional talent and variety. Performances are held September through March at Van H. Priest Auditorium, located on the NFCC campus in Madison, Fla.
