Assistance with Advisement, Registration, and Financial Aid |
Admissions Help Contact the Office of Student Disability Services (SDS) at 850-973-9484 (V), 850-973-1611 (TTY) or email Student Disability Services for any assistance with application or the admission process or if there is a question on eligibility for admissions. Requests regarding NFCC admission with high school completion diplomas other than a Standard Diploma will be handled on an individual basis through an evaluation of each student's ability to benefit from post secondary training and realistic expectations of success. Requests for an application in alternative format (in Word on disk or large print) can be forwarded to SDS or College Advancement. All prospective students wishing to enroll in associate degree programs or vocational studies will contact Enrollment Services for assistance by calling 850/973-1605 (V) or Admissions. All prospective students wishing to enroll in Adult Basic Education will contact the Adult Basic Education office for assistance by calling 850/973-1615 (V) or Adult Basic Education.
Advisement Advising is an ongoing process. It involves creating a goal and a road map to reach that goal. This process involves course selection and much more. The Disability Specialist is an academic advisor. Students are encouraged to meet with the Disability Specialist for advising and academic planning so that Request for Services and Accommodations can be completed at the same time. Registration Priority Registration is defined as a procedure to allow students to register before the balance of the student body. Because of accommodation needs and grouping possibilities, students registered with SDS can register on the first day of registration with graduating sophomores and athletes. Advising may take place at any time prior to the first registration day. Students are not required to register early, but are encouraged to in order to secure the schedule that best accommodates their disabilities. If a student chooses not to register early and is closed out of a closed class, no special arrangements will be made to enroll the student in that class; the student will have to meet with an advisor and change his/her schedule.
Financial Aid Title XLVIII, Chapter 1009.41, Florida Statute requires that a student who has a qualified disability and is not able to take a full time load due to the disability (found eligible by Florida Rule 6A-20.111) will be considered eligible for any financial aid the student would have otherwise been eligible for.
