NFCC Student Clubs & Organizations
African-American Student Union
Who We Are
We are a campus-based, student organization dedicated to the study and celebration of African-American culture and the contributions people of African descent have made to American history and society. We welcome people from different races, ethnicities, and backgrounds to join us in our pursuit of programs designed to educate, empower and enlighten.
A Brief History
The AASU re-emerged in the 2003—2004 school year after a several-year hiatus from campus. Under the capable leadership of President Merv Mattair, a dedicated corps of officers and members planned and executed a campus wide Kwanzaa Celebration, MLK tribute, and Black History Month Program. In its second year, the new and improved AASU hopes to build on the momentum of the past to carry out bigger and better plans for the new school year.
