Each year North Florida Community College students who participate in the TRiO Student Support Services Program select an outstanding instructor. This year’s 2013 Student Support Services Instructor of the Year is NFCC English Instructor Rose Knox.
NFCC students presented Knox with the award at the Student Support Services Faculty Appreciation Reception which is held annually and organized by students who participate in the program. Students also wrote thank you notes to different NFCC instructors sharing what they, the student, found beneficial from the instructors’ classes and teaching methods.
“The faculty here at NFCC are among the best I have worked with,” said Suzie Cashwell, Director of Student Support Services at NFCC. “They balance the rigor of academics with the humanity of first generation students. This combination is leading to success and we want instructors to see this.”
Knox was specifically recognized by students for offering a creative and interactive learning environment where students are engaged, involved and interested in learning. “Creating life-long learning is my goal,” said Knox. “If students are enjoying the process, learning becomes a joyful experience!”
