NFCC seeks nominations for outstanding nurses

Nominate an outstanding nurse for Years of Service, Best Nurse Manager, Clinical Excellence or Community Service by Tuesday, April 28

MADISON, FL – North Florida Community College invites the community to join in its celebration of local nurses, National Nurses Week and the American Nurses Association’s 2014 theme "Nurses Leading the Way.” NFCC’s Allied Health Department asks the community to nominate outstanding registered nurses and licensed practical nurses from the college service area - Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor counties - for recognition in the following categories: Years of Service, Best Nurse Manager, Clinical Excellence and Community Service.

Nominations are due by Tuesday, April 28. To nominate an outstanding RN or LPN, email the nominee’s name, contact information and outstanding qualities and/or contributions (reason for nomination) to nfccnursesweek@gmail.com

“We want to recognize and thank the exceptional nurses that make a difference in our communities,” said Julie Townsend, Allied Health Director at NFCC. “We applaud the dedication, service and contributions of nurses and know that our local nurses impact the lives of many people in a positive way.”

Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. NFCC will recognize nominees and present awards for Years of Service, Best Nurse Manager, Clinical Excellence and Community Service during the NFCC Allied Health Department’s Community Nurses’ Week Reception on May 8.

The purpose of the celebration is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people. In honor of the dedication, commitment, and tireless effort of nurses nationwide to promote and maintain the health of this nation, the ANA and NFCC are proud to recognize all nurses for the quality work they provide seven days a week, 365 days a year.
