NFCC Community Nurses’ Week Reception
NFCC honors area nurses May 9 at Four Freedoms Park
The North Florida Community College Allied Health Department is hosting a Community Nurses’ Week Reception on Thursday, May 9 at Four Freedoms Park in Madison to honor and say “thank you” to the nurses who serve our community. All nurses and nursing assistants are invited to stop by anytime between 2-6 p.m. for this special appreciation event and desserts.
The reception will wrap up with a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. in the Four Freedoms Park gazebo recognizing and honoring outstanding RN’s and LPN’s from the six-county NFCC district of Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor counties. Exceptional nurses will be recognized and awards will be presented for Years of Service, Best Nurse Manager, Clinical Excellence and Community Service. NFCC students will also present an award for “Student Voted Best All Around Clinical Facility” during the ceremony.
The event is part of NFCC’s celebration of local nurses, National Nurses Week May 6-12 and the American Nurses Association’s 2013 theme "Delivering Quality and Innovation in Patient Care.” Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. The purpose of the celebration is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people. In honor of the dedication, commitment, and tireless effort of nurses nationwide to promote and maintain the health of this nation, the ANA and NFCC are proud to recognize all nurses for the quality work they provide seven days a week, 365 days a year.
