NFCC Allied Health honors local nurses

NFCC Allied Health Department Honors Local Nurses for Excellence and Service

The North Florida Community College Allied Health Department hosted a Community Nurses’ Week Reception on Thursday, May 8 at Four Freedoms Park in Madison to honor and say “thank you” to all the nurses who serve our community.  Exceptional nurses were recognized and awards were presented for Years of Service, Best Nurse Manager, Clinical Excellence and Community Service.

"We deeply appreciate the dedication and care that nurses extend every day to our communities," said Julie Townsend, Director of Allied Health at NFCC. "We plan this event each year to celebrate nurses and the unity and team spirit found within the profession of nursing."

NFCC's 2014 Community Nurses' Week award recipients are:

Years of Service Award

NFCC Allied Health students also vote on their favorite clinical site. This year's student choice award for Best Clinical Site goes to Doctor's Memorial Hospital in Perry, Fla.

Best Clinical Site Award
Doctor's Memorial Hospital

Perry, FL

"Thank you to all of our clinical site partners for allowing NFCC students to train in your facilities," said Townsend. "The time our students spend at your sites and with your outstanding nurses and staff is invaluable. Thank you."

This event is part of NFCC’s celebration of local nurses, National Nurses Week May 6-12 and the American Nurses Association’s 2014 theme "Nurses Leading the Way…” Annually, National Nurses Week begins on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. The purpose of the celebration is to raise awareness of the value of nursing and help educate the public about the role nurses play in meeting the health care needs of the American people. In honor of the dedication, commitment, and tireless effort of nurses nationwide to promote and maintain the health of this nation, the ANA and NFCC are proud to recognize all nurses for the quality work they provide seven days a week, 365 days a year.
