Scholarships

NFCC Student Scholarships

NFCC Scholarship Application

The North Florida Community College Foundation, Inc. is a separate not-for-profit, IRS approved 501(c)(3) corporation chartered to provide financially for the educational needs of NFCC programs and students from Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee and Taylor counties that cannot be met through state aid or student tuition income.  

Scholarship Application Deadlines: 

  • Fall Term - August 1
  • Spring Term - December 1

NFCC scholarships may be applied for through the NFCC Foundation, Inc. located on the NFCC campus, Bldg. #36 (Development and External Arrairs/NFCC Foundation Office). Scholarship applicants may stop by the Foundation Office, call (850) 973-9423 or email Foundation@nfcc.edu for more information and scholarship applications. 

Scholarship Requirements: Scholarship applicants must have a 2.0 GPA to be considered for any Foundation scholarship and some scholarships within the Foundation require a higher GPA.
 


Scholarships

Presidential

A scholarship in the amount of $750 per term is awarded to the valedictorian and salutatorian from each of the high schools in the College’s six-county service area. The scholarship can be received for a total of four semesters as long as the student registers for at least 12 credit hours per term. A Presidential Scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher to retain this scholarship.

Individual and Organizational

Various individuals and organizations provide funds for a number of scholarships, including the following:

  • Free and Accepted Mason’s Scholarship: One annual scholarship awarded to a dependent of a Masonic member who is enrolled as a full-time student at NFCC, and in need of financial assistance. Student GPA must be 2.5 or higher. Amount of award is based on available funds. Scholarship may be used for tuition, books, and fees.

  • The H. C. Gray Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Madison Medical and Dental Scholarship, T.A. Baldwin Scholarship, Glen Johnson Memorial, Parker Poe and Wood Nursing Scholarship are made available each year to students in the Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Recipients are awarded at the recommendation of a committee. The awards are made at the end of the first semester.
  • Bill & LaVerne Rutherford Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded to a full-time student with a GPA of 2.75 who is receiving no other financial assistance.

  • Kelley Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awardedto a Madison county resident, not supported by other financial aid with a required GPA of 2.0.

  • Mary Clemmons Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded to a Madison county resident who has been accepted into the Nursing Program and plans to seek employment at the Madison County Memorial Hospital. The recipient will not be fully supported by other financial aid. Scholarship may be used for books, tuition or fees.

  • Turner Davis Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded to a needy Madison county resident with a GPA of 2.0.

  • Madison County Lions Club Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded in August for a Madison county resident with a GPA of 3.0. The recipient will not be fully supported by other financial aid.

  • Madison County Republican Party Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded to a Madison county resident who is a registered voter. Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 and complete an essay of a minimum of 1000 words.

  • Madison Kiwanis Club Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded to a Madison county resident through the Madison Kiwanis Club.

  • Madison County Rotary Club: One annual scholarship is awarded to a Madison county resident with a GPA of 2.5. Applicant must complete an essay of a minimum of 2000 words.

  • Townsend Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded to a Live Oak resident with a GPA of 3.2. Applicant must be a full-time student seeking an Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Science degree, or a Vocational Certificate in Business.

  • Tri-County Electric Scholarship: Annual scholarship is awarded to active members of Tri-County Electric Coop with a GPA of 2.0. Applicants must not be funded by other financial support.

  • Third Judicial Circuit Police Chief’s Association Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and is to be used for books, tuition, and fees. Applicants must be dependents of deceased, retired, or current law enforcement officers. Selection is made by the donor.

  • James H. Fulford Memorial Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and is to be used for books, tuition, and fees. The primary focus of this scholarship is the dependents of slain or incapacitated law enforcement officers, followed by children of working or retired Florida officers, and finally students in the NFCC Law Enforcement Academy who are dependents of law enforcement officers.

  • Charles E. Campbell Memorial Endowment: One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and is to be used for books, tuition, and fees. The primary focus of this scholarship is for the dependents of slain or incapacitated law enforcement officers, followed by children of working or retired Florida officers, followed by students in the NFCC Law Enforcement Academy who are dependents of law enforcement officers.

  • Jefferson County Kiwanis Club Endowment: Scholarships are awarded for $500 to to students of Jefferson County and are to be used for tuition, books, and fees. Application may be made in the counseling office of the high school or with the Kiwanis Club. Awards will be made in the spring at the high school honors program. Applications are reviewed and recipients selected by the donor and/or high school counselor.

  • Florida Firefighters Foundation Fund: This scholarship is for tuition or books. The top priority of this scholarship is the dependent of a firefighter killed in the line of duty, followed by the dependent of a currently working firefighter, followed by the dependent of a retired firefighter.

  • Chandler Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and may be used for books, tuition, or fees.

  • Progress Energy Corporation Scholarship: This scholarship will provide assistance to NFCC students enrolling in programs of study that may eventually lead to employment at Progress Energy. Such programs include business administration and administrative office specialist.

  • Edward K. Roberts Endowment: One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and may be used for books, tuition, or fees. The recipient of the scholarship must be a high school or GED graduate with a GPA of 3.0 and must be enrolled at NFCC as a full-time student seeking an Associate in Arts degree, an Associate in Science degree, or a Vocational Certificate.

  • Morris & Judy Steen Scholarship: This scholarship is a single one-time award that may be used for tuition, books, or fees. The recipient must be a person of high moral standards andexemplary character and must exhibit a good work ethic. It is further expected that the recipient of this scholarship will not be fully supported by other financial aid.

  • Maultsby Family Scholarship: This scholarship is a single one-time award that may be used for tuition, books, or fees. The recipient must be a high school graduate with a 3.0 GPA and must be enrolled at NFCC as a full-time student seeking an Associate in Arts degree, an Associate in Science degree, or a Vocational Certificate. A GED graduate may be accepted provided the student has demonstrated excellent personal habits, a good work ethic, and a settled lifestyle. An exception to the 3.0 GPA may be made if the recipient has been heavily involved in extracurricular activity and/or work outside of school. The student must progress satisfactorily academically. It is the wish of the donors that the student be a person of high moral standards and exemplary character who exhibits a good work ethic. Student or family background/involvement in forestry or forest products is a plus. It is further expected that the recipient of this scholarship will not be fully supported by other financial aid.

  • Greenville Community Scholarship: This is a single one-time award of $500 that may be used for tuition, books, or fees. The recipient must reside at a Greenville, Florida, address, have a high school diploma or GED, and be enrolled at NFCC. The student must maintain a 3.0 GPA. An exception may be if the recipient has work activity outside of school. The recipient will not be fully supported by other financial aid.

Scholarships awarded to High School Seniors

  • PCS Scholarship: One annual scholarship is awarded to a Hamilton County High School graduate. The scholarship is a single one-time award to be used for tuition, books, or fees. The student must maintain a 2.0 GPA, must be a person of high moral standards and exemplary character, and must be involved in community activities. The student should not be fully supported by other financial aid.

  • Mildred Bruner Endowment Scholarship: This is a one-time award with available funds which will be distributed between two semesters. The recipient must be accepted into NFCC and planning to enroll as a full-time student seeking an Associate in Arts degree. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA. It is the wish of the donors that the student be a person of high moral standards and exemplary character and must exhibit a good work ethic. The student must be a resident of Taylor, Madison, or Jefferson county to apply. It is also expected that the recipient of this scholarship will not be fully supported by other financial aid.

  • Frank Cantey Scholarship: The intent of this scholarship is to provide funding for a graduating Madison County High School student. The recipient must be accepted into and planning to enroll at NFCC seeking an Associate in Arts degree. The student must maintain status as a full-time student, a 2.0 GPA, and a class load that should result in completion of the required work for an Associate in Arts degree in 4 semesters. It is the wish of the donors that the student be a person of high moral standards and exemplary character and exhibit a good work ethic. The recipient will not be supported by other financial aid.

  • Madison County Community Bank Scholarship: This is a single one-time award for a senior at Madison County High School who plans to attend NFCC. The recipient must have a 2.0 GPA and be a deserving hard-working student involved in community activities.

  • Lorenzo and Mary Lou Whitefield Endowed Scholarship: This is a single one-time award that may be used for tuition, books, or fees. The recipient must reside in Taylor County, have a high school diploma or GED, be accepted into and plan to attend NFCC. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA as well as carry 12 credit hours. The recipient will not be fully supported by other financial aid.

  • Alice C. Williams Endowment: A scholarship will be given to a Madison County High School graduate, who has been accepted into NFCC and plans to enroll as a full-time student at NFCC. The student must maintain status as a full-time student, a 2.0 GPA, and a class load that should result in completion of the required work for an Associate in Arts degree in 4 semesters. It is the wish of the donors that the student be a person of high moral standards and exemplary character and who exhibits a good work ethic. It is further expected that the recipient of this scholarship will not be supported by other financial aid. Application may be made at the NFCC Foundation Office or the Madison County High School counselor’s office. Notification of selection will be made to the student by the NFCC Foundation Office in May of every other year. This scholarship award may be used for tuition, books, or fees.

  • First Federal Scholarship: One annual scholarship each semester. One student is chosen each year from Lafayette, Hamilton, or Suwannee county. Students should apply in the counseling office of the high schools. Selection is made by the donor and scholarship committee.

  • Lafayette Scholars Endowment Scholarship: Scholarships are available to students of Lafayette County. Interested parties should see the local high school counselor for details.

  • John E. Loughridge Scholarship: One annual tuition scholarship is given to a student in either Taylor or Lafayette Counties. Selection is made at the local high schools and is determined by a committee.

  • Caroline Mary Moffses Memorial Scholarship: One annual scholarship given to a Hamilton county High School student with a 2.0 GPA who is entering the Nursing Program, receiving minimal financial assistance.

  • Lafayette Penny Foundation Scholarship: One annual scholarship given to a Lafayette County High School student with a GPA of 2.0.

  • Lee United Methodist Women Scholarship: Scholarships are available to graduating senior students who attend Lee United Methodist Church and attending NFCC.

  • Junior Auxiliary Scholarship of Madison County: One annual scholarship given to a Madison County graduating senior with a GPA of 3.0.

  • Randy Rutherford Scholarship: One annual scholarship given to a Madison County High School senior with a GPA of 2.0. Applicant must submit a 250 word essay.

  • Rodney Stalvey Scholarship: One annual scholarship given to a Madison County High School Senior with a GPA of 2.0. Business majors will be given preference.
