Learning Resources Center

Learning Resources Center:

  
Peer Tutor and Student

The Learning Resources Center is located in Building 6, Room 221.  The tutoring center operates as a walk-in center. Math, English, and Science peer tutors are available to assist students on a first come, first served basis from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Tutoring services in subjects other than Math, English, and Science are available by appointment.

Hours of Operation:

During spring and fall academic terms, the hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In summer terms, the Learning Resources Center is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and it is closed on Fridays.

Mission:

To provide academic support through peer tutoring services.

Goals:

  • Provide academic support for students enrolled in College Preparatory courses to ensure a successful transition to College Level courses.

  • Provide academic support for students enrolled in College Level courses to ensure student retention and subsequent graduation.

  • Provide Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions in historically difficult courses.

Beliefs:

  • Each student is a valued individual with unique academic needs.

  • A safe and supportive learning environment promotes student achievement.

  • Effective collaboration and communication between students, faculty, and tutors are essential to the student’s academic success.

Tutoring Services:

At NFCC, peer and professional tutoring are considered by both faculty and students to be important ingredients to maximize academic success. Tutoring services are available at no cost to any student currently enrolled at NFCC.
