Art Exhibit and Reception - Hardee Center for the Arts

On Exhibit - April 2014

Art Reception | Meet Artist Lawrence Tobe | Thursday, April 10 | 6 p.m.

April 2014 Exhibit

"Cobalt Blues" by Lawrence Tobe

THE COBALT BLUE SERIES, 2013-14

These abstract paintings were executed with a deft and confident hand by Tobe for a solo show at NFCC.

The cool cobalt blue color sets an atmospheric underpinning to the abstracted cartographic language of the series. Within this cartography one can explore Tobe’s reduction of the interconnectivity of the natural environment and anthropology with a masters ease of a brush stroke. If you look closely you may find a prehistoric pinnate frond, spear point, pictograph, reptile and many other artifacts can be discovered. This series of paintings synthesizes his past works into an energetic body of work that is fertile and lush.
