NFCC art exhibit “Perceptions” now open
Local artist Kenny Harper among featured artists
The NFCC Art Department invites the public to view its newest exhibit “Perceptions” featuring works by local artist Kenny Harper of Greenville, Fla. and artist Ken Morgan of Connecticut. The exhibit is on display now through March 31 in the NFCC Hardee Center for the Arts (NFCC campus, Bldg. 11; Hours Mon-Thurs, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.). Local artist Kenny Harper, a native of Madison County, spent approximately thirty years living on a sailboat and cruising the Caribbean, Atlantic and Gulf. His love of that lifestyle and his adventures at sea and along the seashore are reflected in his art. Artist Ken Morgan was born into a first-generation family acrobatic act made up of his father, two brothers, sister and himself. His work explores the colors and sensations that surrounded him during his travels to carnivals, state fairs and all the way to Madison Square Garden. MORE INFORMATION
Aucilla Christian Academy seniors visit NFCC
Seniors from Aucilla Christian Academy visited the NFCC campus on Feb. 25. The enthusiastic group began their tour in NFCC’s Marshall Hamilton Library with a welcome by NFCC President John Grosskopf. They then traveled across the campus exploring NFCC’s Student Support Services Department, Hardee Center for the Arts, Registered Nursing Department and patient simulator lab, Drafting Department, Science Department and Public Safety Academy. “They certainly appeared to enjoy the tour and asked good questions as we went along,” said Debbie Bass, tour leader and NFCC’s Career Education Advisor. The ACA seniors learned about the variety of programs and opportunities available at NFCC – “One of the seniors said that she was really taken with Criminal Justice [Public Safety Academy] and that she had decided that was what she was going to do,” said Kathy Sale, NFCC Librarian. The students also received goodie bags full of information and fun items from NFCC and Saint Leo University which offers bachelor degrees on the NFCC campus.
