Testing Criteria
Florida State Board of Education Rule 6A-14.30 requires standardized testing to assess the basic reading, communication, and computation skills of entering students. Students who do not meet minimum reading, communication, or computation scores must immediately begin, and continue in subsequent semesters, remediation in all areas in which they are deficient.
Students may complete remediation through enrollment and must receive a satisfactory (C or higher grade) in each of the college preparatory courses for which they are enrolled. Students who do not need remediation in all three of the basic skills courses may register for classes in areas for which they are qualified while undergoing remediation in the area(s) of deficiency.
First time in college applicants who apply must have taken a college placement test prior to the completion of registration. The college accepts scores on ACT, SAT, or PERT placement tests that are no more than two years old.
