NFCC’s QEP focuses on reading and learning communities

• The project idea came as a recommendation from the 2004 QEP Team comprised of 14 faculty and staff members, including a member of the NFCC BOT and the NFCC Student Government President, following the SACS Review Team visit in November 2004.

 Why the reading focus for our QEP?

• “On placement tests administered to entering NFCC freshmen between July 1, 2003 and July 1, 2004, 66% of students tested into a developmental reading course.”

Why the learning communities component for our QEP?

• The QEP Team determined that learning communities meet goals in both academic and non-academic areas through faculty collaboration, student interaction, course integration, and student services.
