Inspiring campus-wide learning
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a component of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) process of reaffirmation of college accreditation.
2005 Quality Enhancement Plan
Creating a Mini-Learning Community
The QEP Mission Statement:
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) seeks to transform instruction and student learning outcomes across the curriculum by engaging, encouraging, and enabling faculty to investigate and apply innovative instructional techniques that support reading comprehension in the classroom.
This project should impact almost all NFCC students at one point in their academic careers since reading comprehension is a major component in all disciplines and in the core curriculum.
NFCC Mission Statement
Efforts toward the QEP enhance the mission of North Florida Community College, which is to “provide quality teaching and learning opportunities for individual and community development in a changing society.”
QEP Goal Statement
An initial goal of the QEP was to institute first semester remedial reading prerequisites for all students who score below 83% on the Florida College Entry Level Placement Test (CPT) or equivalent scores on another entry exam.
The long term goal of the QEP is to create learning communities at NFCC that will focus on further development of reading skills as well as encourage students to enroll in these unique classroom experiences.
