Quality Enhancement Plan

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a component of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) process of reaffirmation of college accreditation.

NFCC Vision:
To be our communities’ first choice for education and cultural enrichment.

NFCC Mission:
An exceptional college dedicated to an individualized and supportive academic atmosphere, accessible education, lifelong learning opportunities, and professional growth for our students and communities.

Approved by the NFCC District Board of Trustees, June 18, 2013

 About the Quality Enhancement Plan

The concept of quality enhancement is at the heart of the Commission's philosophy of accreditation. Each institution seeking reaffirmation of Accreditation is required to develop a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). Engaging the wider academic community and addressing one or more issues that contribute to institutional improvement, the plan should be focused, succinct, and limited in length. The QEP describes a carefully designed and focused course of action that addresses a well-defined topic or issue(s) related to enhancing student learning.

Quality Enhancement Plan - Engage for Success

2015-2020

The purpose of the NFCC Quality Enhancement Plan, Engage for Success, is to improve the academic success of students enrolled in gateway courses defined at NFCC as, Freshman English I – ENC 1101 and Intermediate Algebra – MAT 1033. The plan provides academic support combined with the teaching of active learning strategies in order to increase student engagement. Student engagement is defined as class participation, appropriate use of technology, and use of Academic Success Center services. The plan’s two major components are designed to meet two program goals and three student learning outcomes. Read the entire QEP here.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. With the improvement of student engagement defined as class participation, appropriate use of technology, and use of Academic Success Center services, the College will increase the percentage of students who successfully complete ENC 1101 to 80 % and MAT 1033 to 75%.

  2. ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 faculty will incorporate active learning strategies within their respective courses.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students in ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 will demonstrate effective class participation.
  2. Students in ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 will use applicable technology resources effectively.
  3. Students in ENC 1101 and MAT 1033 will use the academic support and learning services provided by the College.
