NFCC Children's Theater
North Florida Community College strives to provide cultural opportunities through its Children's Theater for area elementary, middle and high school students. Through the years NFCC has brought a variety of age-appropriate programming that features live performances to North Florida. We've featured nine-foot tall puppets, musical shows, Shakespeare plays, and a myriad of other performances that entertain, educate and broaden the lives of our youth. If you have questions or comments, please let us hear from you.

Opportunities for 2008-2009 season will be posted soon.

The NFCC Children's Theater enjoyed an exciting and successful 2007-2008 season.
Poetry Alive 11/07
  • NOVEMBER 2007 - Poetry Alive performed poems - from classics to contemporary pieces - for more than 200 students and educators in the NFCC Fine Arts Auditorium. But this was no ordinary poetry reading; two performers gave a high-energy, dramatic reading of poems and got the audience involved and interested in poetry. The group also traveled to Madison County High School and performed for around 50 high school students and gave the same high-energy, theatrical poetry show that was such a hit at NFCC. Question/Answer sessions were held at the end of each show allowing the audience to find out more about the poetry, the performers and the performance.

  • Bits N Pieces Puppet Theatre 2/08
  • FEBRUARY 2008: Bits N' Pieces Puppet Theatre performed Cinderella and the Chinese Slipper at Van H. Priest Auditorium for more than one thousand K-4th grade students from Madison, Hamilton, Jefferson and Taylor counties. The show featured amazing nine-feet-tall puppets and an educational story and study guide. Following the show, performers explained how the puppets are built and used to tell stories on stage.
  • Pastures of Plenty 3-08
  • MARCH 2008: Vanaver Caravan performed Pastures of Plenty: Tribute to Woody Guthrie in Dance and Music for approximately 350 sixth through eighth graders at Van H. Priest Auditorium. The show featured a live band and dancers and explored the history of America portrayed through Guthrie's music. Dance, commentary and music was utilized to tell stories about the occupations and people of the 1930s, 40s and 50s. Study guides were provided and a questions/answer session was held immediatly following the performance.
