Course Description
This course will help students recognize the importance of basic communication skills. Communication in today's fast-paced, competitive workplace requires a solid understanding of effective communication principles and technical communication. Communication for the Workplace places more emphasis on these critical skills needed for career success in the 21st century workplace. With more focus given to technical communication, distance learning, research, E-mail, customer service and other contemporary business issues. This book will provide comprehensive information addressing essential writing, speaking and listening skills necessary to excel not only in today's workplace but also in the workplace of tomorrow.

Course Objectives
1. Students will learn verbal and written communication.
2. Students will learn the basics of letters, memos, e-mail, and reports.
3. Students will learn about job applications and interview skills.
4. Students will review grammar and mechanics.
5. Students will be expected to participate in class activities.

Requirements
1. Word Processing knowledge.
2. Insert graphics in word documents.
3. Save documents
4. Retrieve documents

Evaluation
Class Work and Assignments equal 50% of the grade and Examinations equal 50% of the grade.

Attendance Policy
The nature of the course requires attendance to all classes and an absentee policy will be enforced. There will be NO MAKEUP for missed examinations unless prior arrangements have been arranged with the instructor; the exam grade will be zero (0). If a student misses a class, the student is responsible for all material that was covered in the class. Once a student is absent for three class hours, a 10-point deduction from the final grade will be made.

Students requiring classroom accommodations or modifications because of documented disability should discuss this need with the professor at the beginning of the semester.
