Objective:
  • Develop a working knowledge of basic vocabulary of business.
  • Introduce students to the reference sources available to make an informed decision concerning their career path.
  • Introduce you to the major areas of study in business. This includes economics, accounting, management, marketing, finance, and information systems
  • Start you on your way to a comprehensive education in business.
  • Introduce you to the stock market and other financial markets and help you better understand the investment options available.

    Course Outline:
    American Business Today:Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4
    Management and Marketing:Chapters 5, 7, 8, 10/11 Accounting and Finance and MIS:Chapters 12, 13, 14, 15

    Discussion:
    Participation and attendance is very important and will be rewarded accordingly. If a student misses more then one class 5% will be deducted from their letter grade for each additional class missed.

    Problems:
    After reading each chapter you will be expected to formulate answers to assign questions and discussion from the end of each chapter. Answers should be clear and utilize correct grammar

    Late Assignments:

    All assignments during the term will be given a deadline for submission to your instructor. Assignments turned in late will be deducted one letter grade for each day that it is late.

    Exams:
    Exams will consist of Multiple-choice and essay questions.

    Academic Integrity:

    Students are expected to complete their own assignments and cheating is strictly prohibited. Anyone caught cheating on an assignment or an exam will forfeit the assignment/exam with a zero and may face further consequences as outlined in the NFCC student handbook.
