What is the NFCC College Council? The College Council is a representative body of employees and students who serve as a campus voice to the NFCC Administration. The College Council provides a forum for all employees to share information and ideas on campus issues, positive or negative, that affect NFCC employees and the College. Items addressed at College Council meetings are brought directly to the Administration through the Council’s chair or vice chair who attend bi-monthly Administrative Staff meetings. The College Council serves all NFCC employees, encourages communication and acts as a voice to the NFCC Administration. Employees: this is YOUR College Council.
Who serves on the College Council? The College Council is made up of 12 campus representatives including four career employees, three faculty members, two administrators and three students. The nine employee representatives are elected by their peers. The three student representatives include the current SGA president and two students appointed by the Inter-Club Council.
How do I contact the College Council or add an item to the agenda? Contact any member of the College Council. Choose a representative from your employee group—career staff, faculty or administrator—or any member you feel comfortable speaking with. Agenda items will be accepted up to the week prior to each College Council meeting. Meetings are held once a month and will be advertised on campus through campus email, the Intranet and NFCC’s employee newsletter, the Spotlight.
Can I bring up an issue, but remain anonymous? Yes. At your request, College Council members will speak on your behalf and bring forth issues without reference to the source. Employees who are not concerned with anonymity may also address the College Council in person by adding their topic to the College Council agenda.
Who can attend College Council meetings? College Council meetings are open to all NFCC employees and are considered open meetings to the public. The public, NFCC students and NFCC employees are all welcome to attend any College Council meeting.
Why should I use the College Council? The College Council exists for employees to use as a communication tool to discuss issues of campus-wide interest. The College Council in turn takes these issues to the Administration with the hope that NFCC will continue to improve from employee input and ideas.
