NFCC's Greenhouse gets a "green thumb" upThe NFCC greenhouse is in full swing and growing pesticide-free vegetables. Dr. Greg Molnar and Dr. Tony DeLia started the NFCC greenhouse or controlled environmental agriculture (CEA) project spring 2004. Since, it has become an innovative way for college students to experience hands-on science. Over the past couple of years the greenhouse's educational benefits have grown to include service learning & community outreach. In addition NFCC science and education instructors developed a plan to use the greenhouse project as a learning tool in local elementary through high schools. The greenhouse is open year round and growing anything ranging from hot peppers to tomatoes.
