NFCC Student Scholarships
North Florida Community College scholarships may be applied for through the NFCC Foundation, Inc. located on the NFCC campus in the Walter Bishop Administration Building, Bldg. #1. Scholarship applicants may stop by the Foundation Office, call (850) 973-9423 or email NFCC Foundation for more information and scholarship applications.

Presidential Scholarships
A full tuition scholarship for two years is awarded to the valedictorian and salutatorian from each of the high schools in the College area. A Presidential Scholarship recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher to retain this scholarship. The North Florida Community College Foundation, Inc., or North Florida Community College awards these scholarships.

Activity Scholarships and Assistantships
A number of activity assistantships are available to students with special talent who can make a significant contribution to the activities of the College. The President, upon recommendation of faculty, makes awards involved in the activity programs. Assistantships are available for art, athletics, drama, music, school publications, and other areas. This assistantship is awarded in the amounts from $50 to full tuition. Information is available in the Financial Aid Office, North Florida Community College, Madison, Florida 32340.

Individual and Organizational Scholarships
Various individuals and organizations provide funds for a number of scholarships, among which are:

Goldkist, Inc. Scholarship
Scholarships are available to children of Goldkist employees. Students should apply through the Goldkist personnel office in their home community. The donor designates the recipient.

The H. C. Gray Memorial Nursing Scholarship, Dewey-White Scholarship, Madison Medical and Dental Scholarship, T.A. Baldwin Scholarship, Glen Johnson Memorial Scholarship, Laura Peacock Nursing Scholarship and Wood Nursing Scholarship
Scholarships are available each year to students in the Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Recipients are awarded at the recommendation of a committee. The awards are made at the end of the first semester.

John E. Loughridge Scholarship
One annual tuition scholarship is given to a student in either Taylor or Lafayette Counties. Selection is made at the local high school and is determined by a committee.

The Junior Auxiliary of Madison County Scholarship
The Junior Auxiliary Scholarship is a one time award given to a Madison County High School senior to be used at NFCC for tuition and books. The recipient must exhibit willingness to work and a desire to give back to their community. See the local high school counselor for details.

Lafayette Scholars Endowment Scholarship
Scholarships are available to students of Lafayette County. See the local high school counselor for details.

Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation Scholarship
The Foundation provides scholarships to students in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. Information may be obtained from Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation, Box B, Jacksonville, Florida 32202.

Other Scholarships
Various churches and civic clubs provide scholarships to students. These awards are made by the donors and are presented to the College for the student named. Students may consider contacting those organizations in their community. Civic Clubs presenting scholarships include, but are not limited to: Kiwanis Club and Madison Rotary Club. Some of these are:

First Federal Scholarship
One annual scholarship in the amount of $500 is given for each semester. One student is chosen each year from Lafayette, Hamilton or Suwannee County. Students should apply in the counseling office of the high schools. Selection is made by the donor and scholarship committee.

Third Judicial Circuit Police Chief’s Association Scholarship
One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and is to be used for books, tuition, and fees. Applicants must be dependents of (1) deceased, (2) retired or (3) current law enforcement officers. Selection is made by the donor.

James H. Fulford Memorial Scholarship
One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and is to be used for books, tuition, and fees. The primary focus of this scholarship is for dependents of slain or incapacitated law enforcement officers, followed by children of working or retired Florida officers, and finally students in the NFCC Law Enforcement Academy who are dependents of law enforcement officers. Application may be made through the Financial Aid or Foundation Office at North Florida Community College. Selection is made by the scholarship committee.

Charles E. Campbell Memorial Endowment
One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and is to be used for books, tuition and fees. The primary focus of this scholarship is for dependents of slain or incapacitated law enforcement officers, followed by children of working or retired Florida officers, and finally students in the NFCC Law Enforcement Academy who are dependents of law enforcement officers. Application may be made through the Financial Aid or Foundation Office at North Florida Community College.

Jefferson County Kiwanis Club Endowment
Two scholarships are awarded for $500 each year to students of Jefferson County and are to be used for tuition, books and fees. Application may be made in the counseling office of the high school or with the Kiwanis Club. Awards will be made in the spring at the high school honors program. Applications are reviewed and recipients selected by the donor and/or high school counselor.

Florida Firefighters Foundation Fund
This scholarship will pay up to $500 for tuition or books per semester. The top priority of this scholarship is the dependent of a firefighter killed in the line of duty; the second priority is that the recipient is the dependent of a currently working firefighter; and the third priority is the dependent of a retired firefighter. Application may be made in the Financial Aid or Foundation Office at North Florida Community College.

Chandler Scholarship
One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and may be used for books, tuition, or fees. Application may be made through the Financial Aid or Foundation Office at North Florida Community College.

Progress Energy Corporation Scholarship
This scholarship will provide assistance to NFCC students enrolling in programs of study that may eventually lead to employment at Florida Power. Such programs include business administration and management, networking technology, office systems technology, industrial management technology, administrative assistant and drafting. Application may be made through the Financial Aid or Foundation Office at North Florida Community College. This scholarship will provide assistance to NFCC students enrolling in programs of study that may eventually lead to employment at Florida Power.

Edward K. Roberts Endowment
One annual scholarship is awarded based on the interest earned on the endowment and may be used for books, tuition, or fees. The recipient of the scholarship must be a high school or GED graduate with a GPA of 3.0 and must be accepted and plan to enroll as a full-time student at North Florida Community College seeking an Associate in Arts degree, an Associate in Science degree, or a vocational certificate. Application may be made through the Financial Aid Office or the Foundation Office at North Florida Community College.

Morris & Judy Steen Scholarship
This scholarship is a single one-time award that may be used for tuition, books, or fees. The recipient must be a person of high moral standards, exemplary character and exhibit a good work ethic. Involvement in athletics is a plus. It is further expected that the recipient of this scholarship will not be fully supported by other financial aid. Application may be made through the Financial Aid Office or the NFCC Foundation Office at North Florida Community College.

The Alice C. Williams Endowment
This scholarship was established in January of 2005 with a gift from the immediate family of Alice C. Williams in her honor. Interest from the endowment makes possible a two year scholarship of approximately $5200 to a student seeking an associate in arts degree from North Florida Community College. Recipients must be a graduate of Madison County High School with a cumulative GPA of 2.0. The student must maintain a full time status, a 2.0 GPA, and a class load that results in completing required work for an AA degree in four semesters. The award is for two years and covers tuition, books and fees.

ABOUT ENDOWMENTS: Endowments may be established with a one-time gift or by a pledge with payments over several years. Interest earned on the endowed scholarship allows for a full tuition scholarship each year and may be used according to the donor’s intent. Most endowments are eligible for state matching funds.

Charmettes fund scholarship
The Madison Charmettes, a service club for African-American women, recently contributed $250 to NFCC for a scholarship to be awarded to an African-American student.
